January – The Month of New Beginnings

I love the month of January! I mean, who does not? It is the time of year that we all decide to reset our goals, plans, clocks, diets and what-have-you, to get it right or do it better. But most of all, to succeed in something that we did not get the chance or courage to see it through.  However, January is also an intimidating month. I mean, for goodness sake, it is the first month of the year. It makes you excited and scared at the same time of the hopes and fears of what could or could not be.

It is indeed because of the opportunity and optimism that January brings that gives us the hope that we still have a chance to achieve our goals. For those wanting to lose weight, this is when the reset button is pushed. The same is true for those wanting to fix their finances to save more money, those wanting to put more time aside for themselves, and so and so on.

As I too fall into more than one of the above examples, allow me to encourage you (us) in making sure that what we set aside to do this year, we actually succeed in. Below is my three-step plan in seeing my goals to fruition.

·       Write it down – writing them down on paper makes it more attainable then just thinking about it.

·       Start on it – Once you have written it down, start working towards it. One step at a time, even if it is just for a few minutes, do something.

·       Celebrate milestones – celebrate any milestone, big or small. Sometimes waiting to have big moments before celebrating can be downright frustrating because of how long it takes to get to that point.
