February is the month specifically set aside to show
love, i.e., Valentine’s Day. I do not see an issue with that. In fact, showing
love is actually a great thing. Especially, if you are the first recipient. So,
I propose that before sharing how much you love your family and friends, let’s
start with “you” first. Allow me to be selfish here, but it is for a great
reason, and it will benefit you and your family.
Set aside some time just for you. Let it be your “Me
Time”. It may sound silly, but it works. If you are into a hobby, or just
simply want to rest and do nothing, it is ok. Just as long as it is about you.
I'm a Mother, and for a while now I've been
implementing “Mommy's Break Time”. It is a block of 15 – 30 minutes that I use
to do “nothing” (I try). My kiddos are aware and though I don’t take the full break
at times, the message is sent that I am having a “Me Time”.
Let it be: you cannot do everything in one day. You
only have two hands and one body. Sure, dinner needs to be made, laundry needs
to be done, house needs to be clean, and so on and on. Prioritize your work. In
this case, we all know dinner comes first. It is late, you are tired, you have
been on your feet all day. And after dinner, you are beat.
If you do not have the energy to clean the house and
do laundry, then let it be. You can clean the house little by little and even enlist
the help of your children.
My kiddos have at least one chore to do every evening before
retiring for the day. By the time they are done, all I need to do is a few
other things. As for laundry, when I cannot do all the laundry in one day, I do
it little by little through the week, this
way, I do not overwork myself.
These are just a few ideas that I have about loving
yourself first. Because if you do not find time for yourself, you will not be
around for those that depend on you.
Until then,
Stay Positive, Vines
