Step by Step, a
Pep-Talk to Action
Today is Saturday, I have spent the last 30 to 45 minutes having
a pep talk with myself on goals that I should have achieved by now, but have
allowed procrastination to get the best of me. As the result I'm sitting here
well actually cleaning and getting mad at myself. Why have I allowed my current
situation to dictate how I look at my future?
Why would I sit here and wonder if what I am planning on doing will be successful, if I am not making the moves to see if it will be successful or not? It was at this point that I had an epiphany: It is not that I cannot do it. But rather the fear of what happens when I do. It was the risk, that I have been afraid of! Oh wow! I was afraid of the risks I'd be taking!
It all started to make sense now. The biggest hurdle we face in our day-to-day life is the fact that we are afraid of the risks that are involved. Not anymore! I'm here to tell you that no matter what your task is, no matter how grand it is, how small it is, do not let the fear of risks to stop you. Do not be intimidated by that skirmish feeling of what if.
You can do this! You got this. Let me share something about me, with you. All my life, as far back as I can remember, I have been the go-to-gal. I know how to help others get on their feet. Help them navigate the slope of whatever they have going on. And, I am good at it. Really good.
So, as I was having this pep talk with myself, as I so often do, I decided to do something about it. I have decided to create a mental file: Step-by-Step file, that will help me achieve my goals and take these risks. I will continue to have these pep-talks and take the steps toward action. So I will get up and start working on those things I have been planning on. Though I do not need to do all at once, I can start small. Step by step. And that is what I am doing, one step at a time.
As I have had my epiphany, I decided to help others like me move toward that action that helps them overcome their risks. I'm here to encourage myself first and you, that we can do this, step by step. Get up, get that notepad, write the things you want to do. Put them down in order of first, next, then. For example, if you want to learn how to sew, the first step would be to get a sewing machine. Next, watch 'how to use a sewing machine' videos on YouTube. Then, decide what you'll like to sew, look it up and begin to practice. By the time you know it, you will be able to sew anything, from a pot holder to skirt, or even a dress or hand back.
So, there it is folks. A pep talk on working on your goals, step by step. I hope I have encouraged you to take on your goals, one step at a time.
