Magnifying the Microscopic Positives

I was one of those people who hated to find the positive in anything. Especially when I was feeling so down or hurt. The last thing on mind was positivity. But, as I matured in the midst of trials and an abundance of experience, I learned the importance of positivity. I define positivity as, finding the positive in just about anything.

I then decided to turn it into an exercise. In fact, I liked and benefited from practicing this exercise so much so that I began to encourage my family and friends to do just that. I do not want to toot my own horn, but I have gotten a lot of “positive” feedback about it.

Today, however, I’d like to talk about how to magnify those tiny positives that you can find in the massive hay of hectic days. I know, the imagery of that alone is fit for a headache, but do not let that scare you. This little exercise is worth the few minutes it takes. This is a two-step process that if done right, will eventually enable you to mentally amplify those positive moments.

The first step is to locate or find that one good thing that happened. While doing this, your mind now has to separate all of the feelings you are going through at that moment, to find the sometimes, only positive thing that happened. This step forces you to calm down and allow your mind to think.

For example: Let’s say AB, who works as a coordinator for a small wedding planning company, has always had things work out very smoothly. Everyone did exactly what they needed to and so forth. However, on this day, she had everything go wrong. The vendors were late, employees were bickering and not one person seemed to be having their head on straight. However, in the midst of all that, she pulled through and the event went on without a hitch.

For AB, the positive she needs to locate in her hectic day is the experience of the unexpected.
Once you have located or remembered that tiny positive, it is now time to focus and marinate on not only what it is, but why you thing it is or was a positive moment.

This process allows you to calm down and zoom in on the benefit of that good. By marinating on the tiny positive, she (AB), can see how this positive can then be used to her advantage in the future. Thereby making this positive a great skill to add on as an experience.

I hope you were able to get the message in this passage, magnify the tiny positives in your life, so that you can focus on the benefit (s) it provides.
